About The Organization:
Created in 2008 and privately held, Harmac Pacific Pulp operates a Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill on the East coast of Vancouver Island near Nanaimo, BC. Nanaimo Forest Products (NFP) Ltd., the owner of the Harmac Pacific trademark, restarted the mill with a single production line on October 3, 2008. Since that time the mill has grown to five production lines and a capacity of 400,000 tonnes of world-class pulp per year. Key to Harmac’s success is the employee ownership model. Our employees are very active participants in the running of the business and there are two employees that are elected as Directors to the company’s six seats on its Board of Directors.
The future of Harmac Pacific Pulp is looking bright. Through extensive capital investments, the organization has made significant improvements in productivity and reliability. In addition, as of 2013, the installation has been complete of a 25 MW Green Energy turbo generator which we currently use to sell power to BC Hydro.

We are seeking energetic, skilled and motivated individuals to join our summer student program at Harmac Pacific Pulp Mill. Under the direction of mill Supervisors, you will support operations by cleaning and maintaining production or maintenance areas of the mill. Shifts are 10-hour days, 4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:
- Shoveling chips and sawdust
- General clean-up in and around the mill property
- Lifting/carrying various wood and metal debris
- Air lancing and cleaning conveyor belts
- Forklift and other mobile equipment operation
- Other duties, as required
- Possess a High School Diploma.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Completed a full year of post-secondary (24 credits) and enrolled in full time university or college for Fall 2026
- Safety Conscious & Focused.
- Able to work individually & as part of a team.
- Adaptable/Flexible/Willing to learn.
- Able to work varying shifts and days.
- Physically fit.
- Demonstrate the values of safety, teamwork, and accountability and work well with others.
- Attention to detail, especially ensuring specific steps are followed to complete a task and have high standards towards quality control.
- Valid Advanced First Aid Certificate
